[Community] Support Team for IP resources allocation applications

Dear All,

During discussions at AIS 14  in Djibouti, it came out that many African
academic and research institutions find the application process at AfriNIC
too complex. This is, in fact, just a perception.

Acknowledging the fact that many of us feel more comfortable with a
one-on-one support rather than posting on mailing list, WACREN has set up a
support Team on the issue to boost IP resources allocation requests from
academic and research institutions.

The objective is to secure IPv4 resources for our institutions; as you
know, AfriNIC is the only RIR that still has IPv4 address blocks and they
will disappear very fast. So, now is the time to request IPv4 blocks and at
the same time IPv6 resources, and start implementing IPv6.

We urge you to take this very seriously, and take advantage of the 50%
discount for educational and research institutions, as per the agreement
signed between the Association of African Universities (AAU) and AfriNIC in
2009.

So, please start the process of requesting IP resources for your
institutions right now and contact the Support Team whenever you face
challenges. As starting point, we recommend you the following AfriNIC web
page: http://www.afrinic.net/en/services/rs.

Feel free to also have your application being reviewed by the Team before
submission to AfriNIC.

Lors des discussions a l'AIS 14 à Djibouti, il est apparu que de nombreuses
institutions universitaires et de recherche africains trouvent le processus de
demande de ressources IP a AfriNIC trop complexe. Il s'agit, en
realite, seulement
d’une perception.

Reconnaissant le fait que beaucoup d'entre nous se sentent plus à l'aise
avec une assistance personnalisee plutot qu’a travers des listes de
diffusion, WACREN a mis en place une equipe d’assistance sur la question
afin de stimuler les demandes d'allocation des ressources IP provenant des
institutions d’education et de recherche.

L'objectif est d'obtenir des ressources IPv4 pour nos institutions; comme
vous le savez, AfriNIC est le seul RIR qui a encore adresses IPV4
disponibles et ils vont disparaître tres rapidement. Donc, c'est vraiment
le moment de demander des blocs IPv4 et en même temps des ressources IPv6,
et commencer à implementer  IPv6.

Nous vous prions de prendre ceci tres au sérieux, et profiter de la
reduction de 50% pour les etablissements d'enseignement et de
recherche, conformement
a l'accord signe entre l'Association des Universites Africaines (AUA) et
AfriNIC en 2009.

Alors, nous vous encourageons a commencer le processus de demande de
ressources IP pour vos institutions des a present et de contacter l'équipe
d’assistance a chaque fois que vous ferez face a des difficultes. Comme
