WACREN andVice Chancellors Ghana (VCG) have signed agreement for hosting the WACRENSecretariat at the VCG Office Complex in Accra.

Officespace as well as space to host the WACREN Network Operation Center (NOC) havebeen allocated to WACREN.

Commentingon the event, Boubakar Barry, CEO of WACREN said: “This hosting agreement showsthe commitment of VCG and GARNET to contribute to the development of WACREN. Itis very timely, as WACREN has started the deployment of its network and is inthe process of hiring additional staff.   WACREN isvery grateful to VCG as well as to GARNET who facilitated the signing of thisagreement”.

Peter Kaba,Executive Secretary of VCG also said: “We are honoured and indeed privileged tohost WACREN within our premises. As Public Universities tasked with the mandateto produce quality human resources for the development of the nation, the VCGconsiders the activities of the WACREN which seek to promote the development ofNational research and Education Networks, a great opportunity for promotingresearch and collaboration to stimulate research and knowledge creation for theadvancement of our community. VCG is committed to supporting initiatives thatpromote this agenda, and is therefore extremely proud to host the WACREN.Welcome and please feel at home”.

Present atthe signing ceremony were also Prof. Nii Narku Quaynor, Chairman of WACREN, Mr.Lucas Chigabatia and Mr. Emmanuel Togo of GARNET, and Mr. Michael Melomey of AGEPConsulting and Investment Limited, Facility Managers of the VCG Secretariat. 

WACREN et la Conférence des Recteurs du Ghana (VCG) ont signé un accord pourabriter le secrétariat de WACREN au complexe de bureaux de VCG à Accra.

Un espace pour bureaux ainsi que l'espace nécessaire pour héberger le centred'exploitation du réseau WACREN (NOC) ont été attribués à WACREN.

Commentant l'événement, Boubakar Barry, Directeur Général de WACREN a déclaré:"Cet accord montre l'engagement de VCG et de GARNET à contribuer audéveloppement de WACREN. Il est très opportun au moment où WACREN a commencé àdéployer son réseau et est actuellement engagé dans un processus de recrutementde personnel supplémentaire.  WACREN est très reconnaissant à VCG mais également à GARNET qui a facilité lasignature de cet accord".

Peter Kaba, Secrétaire Exécutif de VCG a également déclaré: "Nous sommeshonorés et en effet privilégiés d’accueillir WACREN dans nos locaux. En tantqu’universités publiques chargées de produire des ressources humaines dequalité pour le développement de la nation, VCG considère les activités du WACRENqui visent à promouvoir le développement de réseaux nationaux d’éducation et derecherche comme une excellente opportunité de promouvoir la recherche et lacollaboration pour stimuler recherche et création de connaissances pourl'avancement de notre communauté.
