WACREN and Vice Chancellors Ghana (VCG) have signed agreement for hosting 
the WACREN Secretariat at the VCG Office Complex in Accra.

Office space as well as space to host the WACREN Network Operation Center 
(NOC) have been allocated to WACREN.

Commenting on the event, Boubakar Barry, CEO of WACREN said: “This hosting 
agreement shows the commitment of VCG and GARNET to contribute to the 
development of WACREN. It is very timely, as WACREN has started the 
deployment of its network and is in the process of hiring additional staff. 
WACREN is very grateful to VCG as well as to GARNET who facilitated the 
signing of this agreement”.

Peter Kaba, Executive Secretary of VCG also said: “We are honoured and 
indeed privileged to host WACREN within our premises. As Public Universities 
tasked with the mandate to produce quality human resources for the 
development of the nation, the VCG considers the activities of the WACREN 
which seek to promote the development of National research and Education 
Networks, a great opportunity for promoting research and collaboration to 
stimulate research and knowledge creation for the advancement of our 
community. VCG is committed to supporting initiatives that promote this 
agenda, and is therefore extremely proud to host the WACREN. Welcome and 
please feel at home”.

Present at the signing ceremony were also Prof. Nii Narku Quaynor, Chairman 
of WACREN, Mr. Lucas Chigabatia and Mr. Emmanuel Togo of GARNET, and Mr. 
Michael Melomey of AGEP Consulting and Investment Limited, Facility Managers 
of the VCG Secretariat.




WACREN et la Conférence des Recteurs du Ghana (VCG) ont signé un accord pour 
abriter le secrétariat de WACREN au complexe de bureaux de VCG à Accra.

Un espace pour bureaux ainsi que l'espace nécessaire pour héberger le centre 
d'exploitation du réseau WACREN (NOC) ont été attribués à WACREN.

Commentant l'événement, Boubakar Barry, Directeur Général de WACREN a 
déclaré: "Cet accord montre l'engagement de VCG et de GARNET à contribuer au 
développement de WACREN. Il est très opportun au moment où WACREN a commencé 
à déployer son réseau et est actuellement engagé dans un processus de 
recrutement de personnel supplémentaire.  WACREN est très reconnaissant à 
VCG mais également à GARNET qui a facilité la signature de cet accord".

Peter Kaba, Secrétaire Exécutif de VCG a également déclaré: "Nous sommes 
honorés et en effet privilégiés d’accueillir WACREN dans nos locaux. En tant 
qu’universités publiques chargées de produire des ressources humaines de 
qualité pour le développement de la nation, VCG considère les activités du 
WACREN qui visent à promouvoir le développement de réseaux nationaux d’éducation 
et de recherche comme une excellente opportunité de promouvoir la recherche 
et la collaboration pour stimuler recherche et création de connaissances 
pour l'avancement de notre communauté. VCG s'engage à soutenir les 
initiatives qui font la promotion de cet objectif et est donc extrêmement 
fier d’accueillir WACREN. Bienvenue et sentez-vous chez vous".

présents à la cérémonie de signature.
