Dear Colleagues,
I write on behalf of the Interim Steering Committee of the Sierra Leone
Research and Education Network (SLREN) to invite to the SLREN 2016
Conference.
The conference will take place on *28-29 July, 2016* at the Njala
University Conference Centre, Njala Campus, Sierra Leone, starting each day
at *10:00am* prompt.
The SLREN 2016 Conference will bring together policy and decision makers,
development partners, academics and researchers, Information/Library
professionals, IT Experts and collaboration specialists from across Sierra
Leone, West Africa and Europe. The aim of the conference is to discuss the
status of SLREN establishment and the ongoing activities for the provision
of advanced information and communication technology (ICT) services to the
higher education and research community in Sierra Leone.
The main theme of the conference is: "*Achieving Quality Education through
Advanced **Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Services*”, with
the following sub-themes:
1. The Role and Status of National Research and Education Networks
(NRENs) in Africa
2. UN Sustainable Development Goals and implications for Quality
Education in Sierra Leone
3. e-Readiness Assessment of Sierra Leone Tertiary Institutions
4. Community Digital Literacy Initiative: Closing the digital divide in
rural schools and communities
5. Priorities for research and teaching improvements in Sierra Leone
Higher Education
6. Universities, Research, Development and the Policy Environment
7. Supporting research and teaching through better access to online
research literature
8. Sustainable Access to Online Scholarly Information – the Ghanaian
Experience
